Facts You Should Know About Hajj

 

Hajj is an Islamic tour to Mecca – a city in Saudi Arabia. Day 1

Well, the pilgrims carry out Tawaf, a ritual and religion in which they walk-clockwise around the Kaaba, which is a sacred building covered in black, gold-embroidered silk. It is located in the Great Mosque of Mecca, also known as Masjid al-Haram. And while carrying out the Tawaf ritual, the pilgrims walk around it seven times. They even touch and kiss the Kaaba, which is the most spiritual site in Islam. After completing it they walk or run seven times between Safa and Marwah, two hills near Kaaba.

 

Day 2

Now comes the second day, so it is called the Day of Arafat. They spend the day praying at the Mount Arafat(a hill east of Mecca). If you will search then you will get to know that according to Islam, the Prophet Muhammad gave his last sermon at this particular hill.

 

Day 3

In the third day, the pilgrims stay at Muzdalifah till sunrise. Then they go to Mina, where they start the rituals of throwing seven pebbles at the largest of three pillars called Jamarat. This act symbolizes throwing pebbles at the devil. Day 4 and 5

In day 4 and 5, the ritual of throwing stones at the pillars in Mina is repeated. Now, the pilgrims can return to Mecca before the sun sets. Before leaving Mecca, they repeat the Tawaf ritual for one last time.
